"There are plenty of autistic people who still engage in stimming," says Kapp. "But we"re less likely to do it in public because [others] often don"t understand, so they stigmatise it. When people do understand, they"re more likely to accept it. That"s what the study I led found." The participants reported that when among accepting friends and family, they stimmed openly.
